Outside of NASCAR coverage, our adopted hometown of Mooresville, NC doesn't make the news much, but Friday, we welcomed home Cpl. Garrett Carnes, who lost parts of both legs when he unwittingly stepped on an IED in Afghanistan back in February. He seems like a great kid, by all accounts. We're friends with some of his family. Best wishes to Garrett and his family for the future. His recuperation still has a long road ahead.
Below are photos we took of the Patriot Guard that escorted him from Walter Reed Hospital in Maryland to Main St in Mooresville and Garrett himself sitting behind his dad at the rear of the procession.
