Default Last Page of a Thread

Hey Bob. WTF is up with not being able to view the last page of some threads? Sometimes I have to click reply just to see what the last post was.

That is a vBulletin bug, Sparks. It happens to me sporadically as well. And, then after a certain amount of time I can indeed check the 2nd page. I am going to look into it more though.

For example: For a week or so I couldn't see the 2nd page of JerseyGirl's thread in the Clock In forum when she joined a few weeks back. Now, it's good for me.

Which one is giving you trouble. I'd like to check if that one is OK for me. As I said it's sporadic.

I haven't noticed this but if I do, I'll let you know. Could it be just with a specific browser?

The problem has it's root in the 4.0 series of platforms offered by VBulletin, which are about as stable as my first wife. Unfortunately, at this time there is little Firefox users can do other than learn to live with the issue. Google Chrome has the same troubles, but less frequently. However, if you are using IE 8, there is an option called "compatibility view" that will allow you to use the site a bit better. The flaw with this is it tends to distort your screen in odd ways, such as messing with your drop down menus or moving any used smilies all over. Still, it is an improvement over having your cursor leap about the page like Lionel Richie in some cheesy eighties video for "Dancing On The Ceiling" or not being able to view the place at all.

You can read more about compatibility view at this link: Introducing Compatibility View

OK, weird, now it happened to me. I can't view the last page of the Stoner Metal thread.

I also am getting an unusually high amount of CPU in that thread. Could the banner ad be causing some sort of interference?

Yep. It's totally sporadic and plays no favorites. I happen to be fine with The Stoner Metal thread.

Bob, you'll find this to be somewhat interesting. On a hunch, I cleared my cache and ran CCleaner just now, and the glitch is no longer evident.

    Thanks.

I have a MAC so next time it happens to me I'll run Mackeeper.

Craig, couldn't view the 2nd page of a thread today. I did as you suggested and it worked like a charm.

Isn't that the strangest thing? I wonder if it has to do with clogged up pre-fetch data. The thing is, since I used both the "delete browsing history" tab and CCleaner, I'm uncertain as to which one cured the issue. But since I started to regularly clear the cache and run the cleaner at start up since that time, I have not had the problem since.

Glad to read you had the same results.

Thanks for figuring this out Bob. I'll keep it in my mind and refer to this thread if it ever happens to me.

This site runs better than any other site I know of. Just wanted to point that out.
